Sophie Jordan is a member of Thomas Horstemeyer’s patent prosecution group, where she drafts and prosecutes patent applications to protect her client’s innovations. Sophie’s practice covers a wide array of electrical, computer, and mechanical technologies. Sophie also assists clients with licensing, trademark, and copyright matters.

While in law school, Sophie worked for the University of Georgia’s Innovation Gateway where she assisted in building the bridge between academic research and industry. Her work included drafting and negotiating contracts, conducting prior art searches, and reviewing patent applications for technologies in the life sciences and engineering spaces. Sophie also spent a summer working in a general practice law firm where she drafted litigation documents and performed legal research.

Before law school, Sophie graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a degree in Biological Engineering, specializing in biomedical instrumentation. She also worked in the Medical Robotics Laboratory as a student researcher and scientific editor. This work included ‘state-of-the-art’ research in medical devices, surgical robotics, drone technologies, and data mining. In addition to her university experiences, Sophie worked in production engineering for a pharmaceutical manufacturer, giving her first-hand robotics and systems experience on a manufacturing line. Sophie began working at Thomas Horstemeyer following graduation from law school.
